Breaking My Own Rule
I’m writing this on my computer, which technically is ‘cheating’, according to the rules I’ve set up for myself concerning this blog. But I realized that the ability to write a blog entirely on an iPhone depends greatly upon one’s ability to travel solo–which I managed to do quite frequently this summer, but as the school year has begun and I’ve been forced to reawaken into my ‘real life’, the opportunity to cell phone blog has practically disappeared.
BUT…
This weekend Doug and I are attending the National Book Festival on the Mall in D.C. I could not be more excited. We have a whole weekend planned, courtesy of an amazing deal on a hotel for Saturday night. I will be updating this from said book festival, so anyone who is interested in what fun is like for a giant nerd–or, rather, a giant nerd married to an even bigger nerd–please tune in this weekend. Hopefully there will be many posts to come.
As a side note, I strongly suggest blogging and/or writing in general as a hobby for anyone interested in actually doing things in life. It is a fantastic motivator. I can say this with much authority, being a person who, until very recently, was quite content to stay home and do nothing for years at at time. I can no longer fathom even a month without at least a small road trip or local adventure. Even a trip to the Emmaus Farmer’s Market makes me want to take pictures and write. For this I must be forever grateful. Thank you Summer 2009. You helped me bring back to life the person I used to be. I’ve missed her.
