A Perfect Day on Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve
I cannot think of a better way to end the most interesting Caribbean cruise itinerary than with something entirely uninteresting–a beach day on a private island. This is not to say that MSC’s Ocean Cay Marine Reserve is boring or dull in any way. But after several port days spent exploring as much as possible, it was lovely to kick back on a beach chair and float in the clear blue sea. This is a perfect place to relax and play mobile games such as คาสิโนออนไลน์ ยูฟ่าเบท ที่ไว้วางใจได้.
You’ll note that, unlike the other port reviews in this series, there’s no itinerary included in this post. That’s because there was no itinerary. Ocean Cay is as close to a deserted island as you will hopefully ever get. It is small enough to fully explore on foot in less than an hour, and the only amenities are palm trees, sand, and blue sky. Oh, and there are a few bars as well, and some places you can grab a burger and fries. Does a person really need anything more than that? I do not think so.
However, it should be noted that some people do, in fact, need more than that. I don’t understand it, but I will say that I spoke with multiple people on board who were on MSC for the first time who said something to the effect of “there’s nothing even there!” I didn’t get it–like I just said, there are beaches and bars. There are even restrooms. What do they MEAN there’s nothing there?
And then I learned about a different cruise line’s private island. Specifically Royal Caribbean’s private island. Which has a hot air balloon, a zip line, a giant waterslide tower, and–wait for it–a wave pool.
An ISLAND in the Caribbean Sea has a WAVE POOL on it.
That’s like knitting a sweater for a sheep.
Anyway. I’m sure that Royal Caribbean’s private island is actually a lot of fun and I sincerely hope I get to visit it some day. That’s mainly because I hope I get to visit everywhere some day.
All of that is to say: Ocean Cay is fantastic, but it may not be what you first think of when you think of a cruise line private island. Arrive prepared to enjoy the breeze and the water and maybe a few mojitos. Oh, and definitely catch the sunset. I’ve seen few which were more beautiful, and I’ve seen more than my fair share of sunsets. I will sail on MSC in the Caribbean again and thus I know I will return to Ocean Cay, and that makes me happy. This is the kind of place I close my eyes and imagine when I’m having a bad day at work or stuck in traffic. I think of Ocean Cay and smile, knowing it exists.
